The type remained part of the airline’s fleet into the early 1970s and was retired in 1972 after about fourteen years of service, when it was replaced by Boeing 720 jets. The type was also used on Greek domestic routes, where the pressurized DC-6s stayed in service even after newer aircraft had begun arriving. SX-DAM was originally delivered to Swissair in 1953 and renamed \"Isle of Lesvos\" when she was sold to Olympic in 1962.
