In its final years, D-AIHE already wore the new Lufthansa livery – before its active career ended in 2020.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eParticularly unusual: D-AIHE was not only a passenger aircraft, but also part of the IAGOS-CARIBIC research program. Between 2004 and March 2020, the aircraft completed around 500 measurement flights for climate and atmospheric research. While passengers crossed continents, scientific equipment on board collected valuable data at cruising altitude.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eThe Airbus A340-642 with MSN 540 was parked in Teruel in 2020 and scrapped in 2025.
