On November 16, 1920, the two World War I veteran pilots Paul McGinness and Hudson Fysh founded Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Limited, or short: Qantas. In 100 years, the airline grew from humble beginnings with a 105 km/h fast biplane with space for two passengers to the global operation of today with the Airbus A380 as flagship and the capacity to fly almost 500 passengers at a cruising speed of 900 km/h to destinations around the world. To start off the year-long centenary celebrations, Qantas unveiled a special livery on its latest aircraft type. Adding to the anniversary color scheme on this 787, further models in the 1/500 and 1/200 scales from Qantas’ rich history are in development for release in 2020.
