On March 1, 2024, the first of 29 Airbus A220 jet aircraft ordered by Australia’s Qantas took off for its inaugural commercial flight, sporting a very unique color scheme. A leading Indigenous Australian design agency, Balarinji has worked with Qantas to create the fuselage design for all of the Flying Art Series liveries to date, collaborating with First Nations artists and their families. This latest creation on QantasLink’s state-of-the-art Airbus A220 continues this special artistic partnership. Born in 1952 in the remote community of Kanpi in South Australia, Maringka Baker began painting in order to tell her ancestral stories relating to travel, women’s ceremonial business, family connections and traditional lands. Maringka is recognised as one of Australia’s most accomplished artists and is credited with inspiring a new generation of First Nations artists. The livery tells the Dreaming story of two sisters who traverse Australia together, covering vast distances to find their way home.

Its a great model, with an average size but has a lot of detail

Amazing for my 1/400 airport, I bought the Airport mat here to (great condition) the baggage carriers could be improved though as the detach easily. Overall great product.

Superb looking model having flown on this from JFK to LHR it one I had to get looks great on its stand with gear down

Accurate and nice model.
A good attempt at this livery ! Same sort of shade that the silver/pearlescent paint job it had in real life and too date no brand has ever go truly right! Though the 2 Phoenix versions of 300 and 600 variants A340 types they released in this Virgin Atlantic livery of the time is best so far i have seen!
Why? More grey looking but not too dark, a fail in the sense NOT metallic but the brands that did do metallic paint like Gemini and Dragon Wings in the past when this livery actual adorned the real aircraft was too metallic Silver! It was a silver paint used by brands and the real paint look was really hard to get right as it had a metallic look but the same dull grey look the old BA Landor silver/grey matte job paint had!
In real life it did have a metallic look but no brand has ever really captured the real paint look,should have asked VA or Airbus what it was?
So overall,Phoenix are still in my mind the best at A340s,even so Av400 ones are very good too and HX.
My mark,8/10. Reason , paint not quite but best so far by anyone and not as modern with details like HX/YY wings and AV400 do on attention to details ! Example, engine details on engine cover art and jewel lights that Av400 offer!
