Description
Description
In the mid-1970s, Boeing set about developing a successor to its medium-haul bestseller, the 727 trijet. The result was the twin-engine 757, which promised better performance and greater efficiency. Between 1981 and 2004, no fewer than 1,050 aircraft were to leave the Boeing assembly lines. A variant stretched by seven meters followed, intended especially for medium-haul routes with high demand, such as those served by the German vacation airline Condor. That variant was the 757-300, which has an overall length of 54.4 meters (178 ft) and is certified for up to 295 passengers in a single-class seating configuration. The first customer, Condor, received 15 of these aircraft from 1999 and was the largest operator of this variant alongside Continental Airlines and Delta Air Lines. According to current plans, Condor's remaining eight 757-300s are to be retired by the end of 2025 and replaced by new Airbus A321neo aircraft, the first of which have already entered the fleet. Four of these aircraft have been given the eye-catching new livery. In the case of D-ABOL, the blue stripes are intended to whet the appetite for the sea and are sure to put holidaymakers in a good mood already before their departure.
