From presidential jet to aviation day – 5U-BAG

From the Niger desert to London Heathrow, this Boeing 737-200 was more than just an aircraft – it was the official state aircraft of the Republic of Niger for decades. Since 1978, 5U-BAG has served several presidents, participated in international summits, and regularly traveled on missions around the globe. Their robust equipment with gravel kit even enabled take-offs and landings on unpaved runways in the middle of the Sahara.

After more than 36 years of service, their journey ended in 2014 at the British airfield Lasham. There it stood still for almost a decade - until it was finally recycled in 2023 and its shell was given into our hands.

We have now given this historic jet a second life: as a real Aviationtag, made from the original aircraft skin – including the striking green paintwork, of course. Each day is unique, marked by the traces of their long journey.
