Description
Since its inception as a mail delivery service in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1937, US Airways has renamed itself several times and grown strongly: from All American Aviation to Allegheny Airlines, to USAir, after the purchase of Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) and Piedmont, and finally to US Airways in 1997. By early 2010, the airline had become one of the largest airlines with over 340 jets and more than 270 regional aircraft operating under the US Airways Express brand, and was also the world's largest operator of Airbus aircraft. In 2013, US Airways merged with American Airlines, making it one of several airlines that are part of the legacy of today's American Airlines. To honor this heritage, the Dallas, Texas-based airline has repainted several aircraft in the colors of various historic airlines, such as this Airbus A321 in the last US Airways color scheme or another A321 in the bright colors of Pacific Southwest Airlines, which was also recently announced as a 1:500 scale model (Art.Nr 538244).
